Assistance needed to identify driver involved in crash

Pedestrian seriously injured

February 04, 2016 - by Bob Vander Yacht, Lieutenant

The Bellingham Police Department is seeking to identify the driver of a Semi truck that was involved in a collision that occurred during the early morning hours of January 29th.

On that date at 3:31 a.m. our officers responded to an injury accident in the 4200 block of Meridian Street. A 39 year old female was crossing Meridian mid-block, from west to east, and appears to have walked into the side of a passing Semi truck. The female was seriously injured by being impacted by the semi trailer.  A friend that was walking with the female stated that the truck, which was travelling northbound, had an attached flatbed trailer with no load.

Circumstances indicate it is unlikely the truck driver was aware the collision occurred.

Our traffic division wishes to contact the driver of the truck and any additional witnesses to the collision. Please contact Officer S. Stewart at 360-778-8762, or Sergeant D. James 360-778-8683, with the Bellingham Police Department Traffic Unit if you have any information regarding this incident.
