Due to the winter storm warning and the worsening weather conditions in Bellingham, Mayor Kelli Linville has declared a closure of city facilities for the rest of the day.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the eastern part of the county and extended a Winter Weather Advisory for areas closer to the coast. Whatcom County has issued a proclamation of emergency because of heavy snow throughout the region, and the City of Bellingham is closing non-essential City services to be consistent with the City's mission of public safety.
Based on current weather reports, we anticipate that most city facilities will be open tomorrow.
