Watermain break at City Hall – 2pm update

Water service remains off, tonight's Hanukkah event moved to Library lawn

December 13, 2017 - by Amy Cloud, Communications and Outreach

City of Bellingham Public Works crews are on site near at City Hall, where an 8″ watermain has broken underneath the flag plaza. To complete the repair, it was necessary to shut off water to City Hall. Water will likely be shut off through the end of business today. The front entrance to City Hall is temporarily closed, but the side entrances are open.

At this time, City Hall remains open for business despite the water shut-off. Water service at the Bellingham Public Library is not affected. The City is providing water bottles and portable toilets for City staff and the public.

We do not yet know when repair will be complete; however, we do not anticipate water service will restored before the end of the work day.

More updates will be provided as information is received.
