City seeks volunteers for home levy ballot committees

Committees to write “for” and “against” statements for ballot measure

June 05, 2018 - by Samantha Frost, Mayor's Office

The City of Bellingham is seeking volunteers for two committees to prepare statements “for” and “against” a November ballot measure calling for the renewal of the Bellingham Home Fund levy.

Bellingham City Council voted to place the home levy on the November 6 general election ballot at their Monday, June 4 meeting. The Whatcom County Auditor requires that prior to submission of a ballot measure, the City must formally appoint committees to prepare statements for the voter's pamphlet.

Those interested in volunteering for either one of these committees must complete a City of Bellingham boards and commissions application, which can be found on the City's website. Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on June 15, 2018. Those interested should provide their name, which committee they are volunteering for and their contact information, including phone number and email address. If appointed, the name and contact information will be shared with Whatcom County and other committee members.

For questions about the application process, please contact the Mayor's office at (360) 778-8100 or mayorsoffice@cob.org.
