Mayor’s holiday cards display student art

Two Bellingham Family Partnership students honored this year

December 04, 2018 - by Vanessa Blackburn, Mayor's office

Two Bellingham Family Partnership Program students are being honored this year by having their artwork featured on the Mayor's Office holiday greeting cards.

Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville selected drawings by 2nd-grade student Sarah Rosenburg and 4th-grade student Amelie Bass for this year's Mayor's Office holiday cards. Each year, the Mayor solicits drawings from a local elementary school to feature on the cards. This year, students in the Bellingham Family Partnership home-based instruction program were offered the opportunity to participate.

The cards are mailed out to hundreds of community volunteers, board and commission members, local, state and federal elected officials, and other community leaders. Bellingham Public Schools selects one school or school program per year to participate, and students are asked to submit drawings that illustrate wintertime celebrations. From the drawings submitted, the Mayor selects two to be featured on cards.

The Mayor also visits the selected school and presents awards to the school and the students whose works of art are chosen.

Congratulations, Sarah and Amelie!
