Time-limited parking enforcement resumes October 1

Enforcement to include parking meters in Downtown Bellingham

September 17, 2020 - by Michelle Grandy, Public Works

In March, enforcement of time-limited parking was put on hold due to the emerging pandemic. With the return of people to the Downtown and Fairhaven districts to shop, dine and access services the City will be re-instituting time-limited parking enforcement on October 1.

Payment to park is required from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Payment is not required outside of these hours. Time-limited parking (for example, with a two-hour limit) is enforced based on the time posted on the street sign. Paid public parking and time limited parking are not enforced on City holidays. Metered parking can be paid for with coins, the PayByPhone app or at pay stations.

For longer stays and in addition to on-street parking Downtown, parking is available in the lowest level of the Commercial Street Garage at 1300 Commercial Street or Railroad Pay Station Lot at 1100 Railroad Avenue.

Revenue generated by paid parking is used for cleaning, landscaping and economic support of the Downtown and Fairhaven Districts.
