City accepting Mayor’s Arts Award nominations

Nominations due by end of year to celebrate artists, events and art-related businesses, educators and supporters

Celebrate artists and artistic achievements in Bellingham by nominating individuals, groups, businesses and non-profit organizations for the Mayor’s Arts Award. Nominations are being accepted now through the end of 2021.

Bellingham Mayor Seth Fleetwood said that after a two-year hiatus due to COVID19, the City of Bellingham is making plans to host a Mayor’s Arts Award ceremony in the spring of 2022.

“Let’s take this opportunity to celebrate the arts in our community,” Fleetwood said. “Like many organizations and businesses over the course of the past two years, the arts have been impacted and many artists and art organizations have persevered during these challenging times. We are excited to resume the annual tradition of honoring the arts in our community with the Mayor’s Arts Awards.”

A tradition in since 1978, the Mayor’s Arts Awards is an opportunity for the City to recognize individual artists and businesses, benefactors, arts organizations, arts community leadership, arts education or support, civic improvement and research, notable achievements and events, and those who have contributed to th​e arts in our community.

Nominations are due by December 31, 2021. and accepted through an online form. Awardees and the date for the awards ceremony will be announced in early spring 2022.
