Thirtyfive bioretention facilities are planned in the Central Business District in areas draining to Whatcom Creek. The project is 75% funded by the Department of Ecology. Neighborhoods: Central Business District, York and Sehome.
The Padden Estuary Habitat Enhancement Project is intended to enhance ecosystem functions and habitat conditions of the estuary downstream of Harris Avenue.
The Eldridge Municipal Landfill site is about 19,000 square feet in LIttle Squalicum Park in Bellingham, west of the Bellingham Technical College campus parking lot. The DOE is coordinating with the City and EPA on cleanup of both.

The Willow Spring project will construct valuable and much needed new salmon habitat and wetlands along the western edge of Squalicum Creek Park, connecting to Squalicum Creek.
Restoration of the Chuckanut Village Marsh will enhance the area's ability to provide pocket estuary functions, including improving water quality and providing rearing, foraging and osmo-regulation for juvenile salmonids from nearby Chuckanut Creek.
