This project includes building upgrades to the Bellingham Sportsplex Building. This is one of the largest recreational buildings in the city’s system. Activities at the Sportsplex include hockey, indoor soccer, speed skating, events, day camps, and other uses. Constructed in the early 2000’s, the existing heating, ventilation, and roof system need replacement. This project will focus on high efficiency energy upgrades and electrification of mechanical units.

Status
Phase 1 work included new roof and exterior roof insulation over the entire 72,000 SF building. This work was completed in September 2023.
Phase 2 construction is underway and expected to be complete by fall 2025 and includes improvements to interior mechanical ventilation and electrical service upgrades.
