Cordata, Ellis and State Overlay

Project Overview ES569

This project will repair deteriorating pavement, replace aging utilities, make changes to crosswalks to bring them up to current ADA standards, and increase accessibility of roads to bicyclists. The streets to be overlayed are Cordata Parkway starting at W Bakerview Road to W Kellogg Road, Ellis Street from Sunset Drive to Squalicum Parkway, and N State Street from Iowa Street to Ellis Street. On Kellogg Road, one vehicle lane in either direction will be removed and replaced with a buffered bike lane from Cordata Parkway to Meridian Street.

Project Status – Spring 2025

This project is currently under design and planned to begin in 2026. Bids are expected to open in late 2025.

This project is intended to preserve the pavement on these roads. The Transportation Improvement Plan calls for Street Preservation funded partially by the Transportation Fund that was approved by Bellingham voters in November 2020.

Funding will come from the Street and Transportation funds for the overlaying of roads, road crossing improvements, and lane reconfigurations. Utility replacement funding will come from the applicable fund for that utility.
