Happy Valley Neighborhood Park– Donovan House Demo

The City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the recent purchase of approximately 1/3-acre property adjacent to Happy Valley Park that will provide expanded access and visibility, as well as space for future park amenities. The first step of site improvement is the removal of the house at 2710 Donovan Avenue.

The current project will demolish the house and fence facing the park; repurpose the garage as storage for maintenance equipment; retain the driveway and graveled access to the garage; and fill and seed the footprint of the house.

Parking along Donovan Avenue will be restricted in front of the house to facilitate park vehicle access to the demo and garage site.

Future improvements at Happy Valley Park, including replacing equipment and adding facilities, are proposed for 2026. The planning and design process will include opportunities to engage with City staff and provide input.
