Living Wage

​​​​​Pursuant to Bellingham Municipal Code 14.18, the following categories of service require that Living Wages must be paid to eligible employees by the contractor and subcontractors if the contract is over $10,000 in a 12-month period, the contractor has been in business for more than one year, and the contractor employs more than four employees.

  • Automotive Repair and Maintenance
  • Facility and building maintenance
  • Janitorial and custodial
  • Landscaping
  • Laundry
  • Office & Clerical
  • Parking Lot Management
  • Pest Control Services
  • Recreation
  • Resident & day shelter
  • Security Services
  • Shuttle Transportation
  • Street & Sidewalk Cleaning
  • Towing

Eligibility

The employee is considered an eligible employee if the following criteria are met:

  • Employee is full time and over the age of 17
  • Employees are non union

Wage Amounts

Living Wage amounts effective July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024:

  • $15.25 with Health Benefits​
  • $17.53 without Health Benefits
