Watts Family Preserve

The Watts Family Preserve, located on the eastern flank of Lookout Mountain, joins with Lake Whatcom to form over 2,000 feet of undisturbed shoreline. The property sits on steep sandstone outcropping, drained by intermittent streams. Across the valleys and steeply sloping hillsides, the dense forest is dominated by second growth Douglas fir, and western red cedar, with a lush understory of native shrubs.

Though easily identifiable from the road or from the lake, access is difficult and may best be appreciated from afar in its entirety as a healthy forest buffer for the rugged lake shore topography.

A conservation easement on the land effectively removes three potential development units.
