In 2011, the City of Bellingham was awarded a grant from the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation to hire a consultant team to complete a historic resource survey of the “Broadway Park” area of the Cornwall Park Neighborhood. The grant proposal also included the nomination of the Broadway Park Historic District to the National Register of Historic Places.
