2022 Parks Scholarship

The Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department offers a $200 per person annual scholarship to those who qualify and reside within Bellingham City limits. The scholarship money can be used to register for Parks and Recreation and Arne Hanna Aquatic Center programs. The $200 scholarship is good for the calendar year, January through December. Applications are below. To be eligible to receive this, your family must reside within Bellingham city limits (proof of address required) and provide proof of one of the criteria below:

  • Eligible by Income Level (150% of the Federal Poverty level)
  • Foster Child
  • TANF/Food Stamp Benefits
  • SSI Documentation
  • DSHS Respite Care

2022 SEEK Scholarships

Bellingham Parks and Recreation has been awarded funding for summer camp scholarships through the SEEK (Summer Experiences & Enrichment for Kids) grant program. This summer, area youth will be able to apply to attend up to two weeks (depending on availability) of BellingCamp and Adventure Day Camp free of charge.

These funds are provided by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction in collaboration with the Washington Recreation and Parks Association and the Association of Washington Cities and are intended to increase access to quality, outdoor summer programming for youth and communities who have historically been under-served or who have been most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

By selecting and enrolling your camper in one of these camps, you are self-attesting that your camper fits within any of the determining criteria:

  • Family falls within 150% of the Federal Poverty level
  • Camper identifies as Hispanic, Latino, or of Spanish origin
  • Camper describes themselves as American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
  • Camper has been in foster care
  • Family receives Social Security Income
  • Household receives Food Stamps
  • Household does not own a vehicle or have easy access to transportation
  • Primary language spoken in household is not English
