The City of Bellingham committed to Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures for all City-owned streetlights in order to enhance safety, reduce energy consumption and save money. Beginning in 2015, approximately 3,700 light fixtures in all Bellingham neighborhoods were converted to LED.
