Parking Enforcement

Parking is an important tool for creating a lively and vibrant community. Parking turnover, especially in downtown and business districts, keeps people circulating through local businesses and restaurants. Parking violations can impact the amount of people that move through an area and can sometimes create hazards in our roadways and right of ways.

Public Works Parking Enforcement’s primary responsibility is to ensure that drivers comply with local parking laws and ordinances and issue citations for violations. Parking Enforcement, because of their visibility in the city, also interact with the public providing answers to questions about parking, directions, or other information about the area.

A vehicle may not be continuously parked over 72 hours on a city street or right-of-way [BMC 11.33.060(A)(25)BMC 11.33.60(A)(18)].  This includes motor homes, travel trailers, and boat and utility trailers in addition to cars, trucks, vans, buses, motorcycles, and motor scooters. Visit our website for more information about abandoned vehicles.
