Squalicum Creek Habitat Tour

Sep 22, 2023 , 12:00 pm 2:00 pm

Embark on a journey with the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) and the Whatcom Conservation District (WCD) as we explore Squalicum Creek to observe the transformative impact of tree planting on local salmon populations and our climate. NSEA and the WCD have developed a strong partnership and worked tirelessly to restore salmon habitat across Whatcom County for decades.

During our excursion, we will venture to three distinct sites along Squalicum Creek, showcasing the evolution of restoration efforts and the proactive measures we’re taking to improve our watersheds. Along the way, we will discuss the significance of riparian habitat for thriving ecosystems, insights into the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), the concept of assisted migration, and the intricate link between climate action and salmon recovery.
