Thank you to the rockstar volunteers who joined us at the 16th Street Trail this morning to replant and revitalize this beloved trail!
We all worked hard to plant 224 plants, remove around 6 cubic yards of invasive species, and spread 15 cubic yards of mulch. The Kinnickinick we planted today will control for erosion and keep the hillside stable!

We have taken down the volleyball nets at Bloedel for winterization!
These nets are nice, and we’d like to protect them from unnecessary exposure to the elements during the months of low utilization. Expect to see them back up once the days are longer and the temperatures are warmer!
Be on the lookout for more facility improvements at the sand courts as well!

Love it!
Great name!
I believe that Séliš was one of the original names attributed to a Flathead group far to the east. It was anglicized to Salish and later used to refer to most of our local native tribes. The conquering/marauding/pillaging Anglos and their ilk did similar things to many of the traditional tribal names they encountered here. Some of the names we use today turned out to be names used to refer to other tribes, by neighboring ones. In at least one case, the name just meant "those people over there".
Probably going to need to do something about the local RV residents on Cornwall...
I’m probably alone here but it is worth observing that a massive amount of this “park” appears to be devoted to asphalt for personal vehicles. I’m not sure how this design dovetails with any City (or international) policies to try to abandon our reliance on cars — it seems to encourage otherwise. I’m not too worried about it, since personal vehicles might go extinct before this site is cleaned up enough for public use anyways. But it is worth observing now, nonetheless.
Can't wait! I made a little simulated flyby video comparing it to Boulevard Park. youtu.be/A6PqjR3gBUM
Pity the "Salish" is an mis named group, as local historians claim, The Salish were Plateau Native Americans. Originally for the east side of the mountains..how the designation ended up on the west side is a bit of a mystery....
That's a lot of coastal disturbance but okay. Bye bye beach combing.
Did Lummi approve that name? I heard not. Try again.
When?
*glass beach.
Love!!!
