Our Mission: The entire records team is dedicated to providing creative solutions and accurate information because we are committed our work family and dedicated to the justice system. We deliver specialized support with pride to our Department and community.
The lobby and reception areas are open to the public Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. The specialists working in the records bureau perform a variety of services for the public to include background checks, issuing concealed pistol licenses, providing gun checks on transferred handguns and filling public disclosure requests.
The bureau is open for law enforcement personnel at BPD and around the county 24 hours, 7 days a week. BPD records bureau is the only 24/7 staffed records bureau in Whatcom County. The work the specialists perform for the officers includes entering/clearing warrants, missing persons and stolen cars, entering court orders, answering requests for research from officers and detectives, and providing information to officers in the field.
