Lorraine Ellis Park Playground Renovation

This beautifully renovated park is now open to the public!

Park facilities include: playground with a 14’ spiral tube slide, benches, and a trash receptacle. The construction of a concrete walkway to connect the playground and proposed sidewalk along West Illinois is anticipated for 2024.

The previous tired and weather-beaten playground area, installed in 1990, was redesigned when the City playground safety audit found that it did not comply with safety standards for public playground equipment, and lacked ADA access.

Funding

$250,000 Park Impact Fees

Status

Construction is complete and the playground is now open.

Design Options

Please see the preferred option depicting an assortment of fun, accessible, challenging, and cooperative play opportunities for preschool and school aged children. The final selection of playground option depends on public input.
