Private Development Street Frontage Improvements
When new development occurs on public streets, the developer is normally required to complete the street to City Street Standards (BMC 13.04 and BMC 13.08). This is part of growth helping to pay for the cost to serve growth.
On arterial streets, this requires the abutting street to include travel lanes, bike lane, curb-gutter-storm drainage, and sidewalk. On residential streets, this requires the abutting street edge to include travel lanes, curb-gutter-storm drainage, and sidewalk. See Arterial Network for Vehicles and Freight Trucks.
On non-arterial residential streets, new development is normally required to improve or complete the abutting street edge to include travel lanes, curb-gutter-storm drainage, and sidewalk.
