Pedestrian Master Plan Open House
Jun 1, 2022 , 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The City of Bellingham is seeking public input on community needs to improve walking as a mode of transportation throughout Bellingham. All those that live, work or visit Bellingham are invited to the Pedestrian Master Plan Update open house on Wednesday, June 1 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The update of the Pedestrian Master Plan will identify further steps for creating a safe, well connected and attractive environment for people of all ages and abilities to walk for enjoyment, exercise and daily transportation. Since the development of the Plan, many things have changed; numerous pedestrian projects have been completed, the population of Bellingham has grown, and the needs and priorities of the community have changed. Public feedback is essential to creating an updated plan that reflects the community’s needs and interests.
The open house will have stations where you can provide feedback on how you would like to see the pedestrian network grow. There will also be opportunities to learn about the process of updating the existing Pedestrian Master Plan and how the pedestrian network has grown since the adoption of the 2012 Pedestrian Master Plan. Short presentations will take place at 6:20 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., stop in anytime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Spanish and ASL interpretation will be provided. The whole family is welcome, kid-friendly activities will be available.
Location
This event will be held in the gymnasium at Shuksan Middle School at 2717 Alderwood Avenue.
Alternative transportation options are encouraged. Shuksan Middle School is near a Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) bus line; to find a bus route use the WTA online trip Planner. The middle school is also accessible via bike routes, you can use the bike route map to plan your trip at cob.org/bike.
Additional Feedback Opportunities

The update process begins with a focus on the Pedestrian Master Plan, followed by the Bicycle Master Plan in the fall of 2022.
