Project Overview- ES573
The project installed new curb, gutter, and sidewalk along Elwood Ct, along Elwood Ave from Elwood Ct to 32nd St, and along 32nd St from Elwood Ave to Fielding Ave. In addition, ADA improvements have been made at the intersection of 32nd St and Elwood Ave and the intersection of 32nd St and Fielding Ave.

Project Background
The improvements are a part of a pilot project aimed at improving a small overgrown City owned lot and infill sidewalk in accordance with the Pedestrian Master Plan.
Project Status- Winter 2025
Sidewalk installation is complete. Re-striping is delayed for warmer, drier weather.
Construction Impacts
Periodic traffic control along 32nd St from Fielding Ave to Elwood Ave while crews are working.
Concrete Pilot Project
In late October, crews poured some test sidewalk panels of a more environmentally friendly biochar concrete as part of a partnership with Washington State University. Biochar concrete combines organic waste with regular cement, reducing its carbon footprint by 50 percent.
The panels will be monitored over time through sensors in the concrete that measure humidity, temperature, and strain.
